An eight-step process is used to make Creative Canvas floorcloths. It
begins with priming the canvas. This shrinks the canvas which strengthens
it. Then it is sanded to remove unwanted texture, and primed again. Next,
it is cut to the desired size, hemmed at the edges, then backed so it won’t
slip. The design is painted on by Sue. Finally, to protect the design, several
coats of urethane are painted on, and a final coat of wax is applied. The
finished floorcloth has the feel and suppleness of fine leather.
Floorcloths are tough and long-lasting, standing up to the punishment
of every-day wear. To attest to the durability, Sue will tell you about
the floorcloth she contributed to Designer’s Show House in Detroit. The
show had 35,000 visitors. All of them had to walk across the floorcloth.
After the show, they wiped it off, as good as new, and sold it. Each Creative Canvas floorcloth is meticulously designed and created. Every step is done with great care, ensuring its beautiful look will last for as long as you own it. |
